Detail of the cross-reliquary (staurotheke) lid. It is decorated with precious stones and gold plaques with the representation of Christ on the throne, the Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist, two Archangels and twelve Saints. All the figures are identified by the Greek inscription or abbreviation next to their heads.
