Terms of Use

Users of the web site, of the digital collections and of the services of AMS Historica (“USERS”) must agree to the following terms and conditions without restrictions or limitations.

Images, texts, videos, sounds and other contents (“THE CONTENTS”) are made available in AMS Historica to promote the development of culture, to support research, learning and teaching and to ensure the preservation, the public access to and the valorization of cultural heritage.

THE CONTENTS belong to the libraries, the museums and the archives of the University of Bologna or are hosted and published according to specific license agreements with the rights-holders.

THE CONTENTS are protected by the Italian copyright law (Legge 22 aprile 1941 n. 633 e s.s.m.i.) and some of them by the Italian Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape (D.lgs. 22 gennaio 2004 n. 42).

The USERS can freely access and reuse THE CONTENTS published in AMS Historica according to specific licenses.

AMS Historica adopts the following licenses:

This license, in some ways, can be traced back to the copyleft licenses of free and open source software

For a legitimate reuse of THE CONTENTS, the USERS must check the individual license or terms of use for each different digital item before reusing THE CONTENTS.

When reusing THE CONTENTS according to the license applied, the USERS must always acknowledge the Data Providers (museum, archive, library) or rights-holders and include full reference to the item metadata (title, author/s, publisher, publication year, handle and license).

All metadata of THE CONTENTS are distributed under a Creative Commons “CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication”.

High definition reproductions

The USERS can send their requests for high definition files of THE CONTENTS published in AMS Historica specifying how they intend to use them to . The staff reserves the possibility to evaluate the requests.

Liability of the University of Bologna

The University of Bologna makes reasonable efforts to ensure the availability of the repository and the quality and completeness of the metadata. The University of Bologna has no liability for damages or losses caused by service interruption or for usages of the site and THE CONTENTS not compliant with these terms of use.

Liability of THE USERS

THE USERS agree to these Terms of Use and confirm that they accept them, by reusing THE CONTENTS accordingly and according to the provisions of the laws. It is THE USERS responsibility to determine and satisfy copyright and other use conditions before copying, transmitting, or making other use of THE CONTENTS.

Limitation of Liability

Under no circumstances will AlmaDL be liable for any damages caused by the User for the use of the Contents in violation of these Terms of Use. Furthermore, AlmaDL will not be liable for any damage, of any nature, caused directly or indirectly by accessing AMS Historica and by the use of the information contained therein.

Modification of the Terms and Conditions

AlmaDL reserves the right to modify or change the web site, THE CONTENTS and the Terms of Use in its sole discretion without notice. The USERS, without prejudice of their right of withdrawal, will then continue to access and use THE CONTENTS and the web site according to the amended terms of use.
