Basilica of San Vitale, presbytery, south wall, lunette, mosaic decoration: representation of Abel and Melchizedek Sacrificing, episode of Genesis. On the right side of an altar, Melchizedek, dressed with sacerdotal clothes, offers bread and wine, beside a temple. On the left side, beside a shed, Abel dressed with shepherd clothes, offers a lamb. On the top, in the middle of a cloudy sky, the divine hand Dextera Dei is depicted receiving the offerings.
