Description: 

Mosaic decoration from St. Michele in Africisco in Ravenna. The mosaic of the triumphal arch is divided into two registers: in the upper part Christ is depicted in the centre, with the Archangels Gabriel and Michael on either side. Christ holds a jeweled cross in his right hand and a codex with a Latin inscription in his left hand. In the lower register St. Cosmas was depicted on one side and on the other St. Damian. Today, only the inscriptions remain.
