Attention is drawn to his gift by the iambic inscription which appears between them: ' I have enjoyed many good things in life, of which you were the donor, O Theotokos, I. Magistros Nicephorus, a humble suppliant, have built with linging this church [for you[, and so beseech you that I shall find you my protectress on that fearful Day of Judgement'
