dc.description	<p>Basilica of San Francesco, aerial view. <br>The Basilica of San Francesco was built in the fifth century as the Church of the Apostles.<br>Between the ninth and tenth centuries the church was demolished to build a new one. This new church was dedicated to San Pietro until it was handed over to the Franciscans in the 13th century and dedicated to Francis of Assisi.<br>The floor mosaics in the crypt remain from the ancient church.</p>
