The sarcophagus is datable to the fifth century and, as evidenced by the inscription on the lid, was reused in the seventh century to preserve the remains of Archbishop Theodore. In the front the Chrismon is depicted inside a clipeo with the Greek letters alpha and omega. On its sides two peacocks are carved with vines and bunches of grapes.
