Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation: Plan of the House of Gladiators, Kourion
Format
JPEG
Description
It must have been a rich patrician house of the well-known atrium type. The centre of the house is a peristyle open-air countryard surrounded by rooms of various uses. The entrance to the house was through a built staircase in the northeast corner. It led to a smaller open-air countryard without porticoes. The floor was origianally covered with mosaic compositions. Underground cisterns collected the rain-water, so precious for the city of Kourion.
