Description
The god-receiving Symeon with the distinct white curlings falling down his back, bows revently to Panagia to receive the Child Christ. The Virgin, facing him, extends both hands, covered under her red maphorion. Behind her follows Joseph, carrying a pair of young pigeons or quails, an offering to the temple. Anna the prophetess comes behind Symeon, observing the scene. Raising her hand in a gesture of speech, she prophecies what is written on the scroll she holds in her other hand: ' This child has created heaven and earth'.
