Funerary stele

Grave stele of the cavalryman, Dexileos. He is depicted riding a horse, charging a Spartan enemy, probably during the Battle of Nemea (Corinthian War). Dexileos wears a chiton, chlamys, and petasos. The enemy, completely naked, is seen in the frontal position. The inscription below the relief says:
Dexileos son of Lysanias of Thorikos.
He was born in the archonship of Teisandros.
he died in that of Euboulides,
at Corinth, one of the five cavalrymen.
The stele was discovered in the Dipylon cemetery in Athens.
