Holy Bishopric of Morphou: The narrative ctcle of the Discovery and Exaltation of the True Cross, Church of the Holy Cross of Ayiasmati (1-1, 72-82)

The blind arch in the north wall contains a series of miniatures that compose the narrative cycle of the Discovery and Exaltation of the True Cross. The cycle is rare in Byzantine religious painting and is, in fact, an iconographical import from the West, connected with the Crusader tradition of painting.
