The Sacrifice of Isaac presages the sacrifice of the God-man for the redemption of the faithful. In the midst of a rocky landscape, Abraham prepares to sacrifice his beloved son at God's command, who, however, intervenes in order to forestall the sacrifice, sending a ram in his place.
