Description

A running angel with red garments stands on the burning river and thrusts its trident trying to push a crowded group of sinner men to the Hell. Some of them with an austere expression and lively gestures protest while other tears out their beard or bring their hands it their face. Priests of different Christian confessions, dressed with their official vestments are standing in front of the group expressing their puzzlement for their condemnation with gestures. Among them we recognize Orthodox bishops with a mitra, a Roman-Catholic cleric with tiara, another prelate with a wide head-cover, as well as further persons with turbans. The title of the composition is written with capital letters: ''The angel of God brings the sinners into the fire''.
