Description:	Ill. calcogr. eseguite da Pieter de Jode e Abraham de Diepenbeck L'autore, William Cavendish (1592-1676), nel 1628 diventò Duca di Newcastle, e dopo alcune guerre abbandonò nel 1644 l'Inghilterra, recandosi in esilio prima ad Amburgo e Parigi, poi in Olanda, ad Antwerp. Nel volume sono presenti le illustrazioni di Abraham de Diepenbeck che annoverano numerosi ritratti, tra i quali l'autore stesso che porta i suoi cavalli. Ci sono anche due disegni allegorici che rappresentano l'autore adorato dai suoi cavalli.
