Title: Holy Bishopric of Morphou:The Archangel Michael, Church of the Archangel Michael in Pedoulas
Start date: 1474
End date: 1474
Historical Period: Late Byzantine Period
Description:

The Archangel is shown on a gold ground from the waist up, in a full frontal pose, not particularly well-built. In his folded right hand that he raises to the chest, he holds a slightly oblique kerykeion. In a characteristic gesture he raises the forefinger, its tip bent, for the kerykeion to rest against. Within a disk the Archangel holds in his left hand, in the bottom-right corner, Christ Emmanuel is pictured in grey-black shades. In His right hand emerging through the garments, He gives blessings while holding a closed scroll in the other.
