Title: Holy Bishopric of Morphou: The sleeper on Sunday, Church of the Holy Virgin in Moutoullas
Start date: 1400
End date: 1599
Historical Period: Late Byzantine Period
Description:

He lies on wooden bed, covered with sheets decorated with check-motives; his bed has a conical roof made of cloth and tied on a horizontal post, which looks like a tent. A demon is seated on that roof with open legs and tries to cool him with the fan, which he holds in his left hand. Another demon in front of the bed runs to the left carrying a torch and an unidentified object in the other hand in order to set on fire the bed of the sleeper. Above we recognize three naked figures, with serpents around their feet.
