Title: Holy Bishopric of Morphou: St Stylianos, the archangel Michael and the apostle Peter, Church of the Holy Virgin in Moutoullas

Description: 

St Stylianos was considered as a healing saint, protector of the infants. He is wearing his monastic garments and a gery tunic. At his left hand he holds an open scroll with the hymnological inscription with capital letters: ''My hope is God, my shelter is Jesus, my protection is the Holy Spirit''. The title ''St Stylianos'' is written with many orthographical mistakes. The archangel Michael with a lofty stature, impressive and frontal is palced in the middle of the panel with his opened wings. Represented with a round face and proud head is starring the faithful straight to his eyes with a sharp look. His rich, brown hair is fastened with a white band, which is waving. A red jewel with pearls is placed in the middle of his hair. He is wearing red, imperial garments, leaving uncovered his legs, with the characteristic, high shoes. His loros, decorated with pearls and precious stones is crossing his chest and falling downh to the right, while the archangel is holdng its left edge. He is also holding the symbols of the divine power, a staff with a rectangular ending, with a frame decorated with a pearl and bearing the inscription ''Holy, Holy, Holy''. Peter was painted at the right end of the composition. He is turning to the left, where the nothern entrance to the church is, His body has been damaged. He is raising his right hand, giving posssibly a benediction, but only the two fingers are visible today. In the left hand, he holds an inscribed scroll with a fragmentary inscription. He is depicted as an elderly figure with a round bear, oblong head, crooked nose and curly, white hair around his tonsure.
