(Ed.ne Alinari) P.e 2. No 3745 Florence - Baptistery. A division of the dome; detail of the mosaic of the dome. (Iacopo Francescano and other masters). The three segments above the altar are occupied by the scene of the Last Judgment. The central one is almost entirely occupied by the figure of Christ as a judge.
The sides, organized on three parallel registers, depict at the top two almost symmetrical angelic hosts, with the symbols of the Passion. Two angels sound the trumpets of the Apocalypse which awaken, at the feet of Christ, the mortals from the tombs. In the second register Virgin Mary, Christ, John the Baptist and the twelve Apostles are depicted on thrones.
Representations of Paradise and Hell are depicted in the lower register.
